Sweet Sparky, is a nine-year old neutered Shih Tzu Poodle mix. He came to us blind in his left eye. Sparky was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Orange County Shelter, where they thought he had Glaucoma. After visits to two ophthalmologists, it was determined that Sparky had a corneal ulcer, and possibly a detached retina. It does not hurt him, but he is definitely blind. Sparky’s right eye has a partially detached lens. He was being treated with eye drops to try to save the sight in that eye. Unfortunately, Sparky recently went blind in his right eye as well, which has caused total blindness. Due to his age and being bow-legged, Sparky also has some joint pain. He has the cutest waddle, that will make you laugh. Sparky has the sweetest disposition. He’ll talk to you to tell you what he wants, plays with toys, and loves other dogs and people.  Sparky is a special boy who will let you give him eye drops and medication without a fuss. Sometimes, he begs for them. What a joy of a dog!

We rely on the generosity of animal lovers in our community to provide for the adoptable pets in our care. On average, it costs $300 to care for a dog until it finds its forever home. Please consider making a contribution to help us continue to rescue dogs like Sparky.
